In April Woodstock residents joined social historian Antonia Keaney at Park View, our new neighbourhood of homes just a ten-minute walk from the Palace gates, for an evening of fascinating insights from Blenheim Palace’s 300-year history. The guests enjoyed the unique opportunity to delve into the UNESCO World Heritage Site's illustrious history, in the charming new show home at Park View.
Antonia Keaney is a researcher for Blenheim Palace who regularly shares her depth of knowledge, passion and insight for our historic estate with new audiences. More recently, this has included a podcast series, titled ‘Behind the Scenes at Blenheim Palace’, available to listen to on Spotify. She has also appeared on Radio 4’s Saturday Live, BBC’s Country File, Channel 4’s Phil Spencer’s Stately Homes and Channel 5’s The Cotswolds with Pam Ayres.
The event at Park View provided the chance for guests to hear from Antonia first-hand, discussing some of the famous visitors that have passed through Blenheim Palace’s gates including the royals that have visited and some of the passions and pursuits of past dukes and duchesses. One resident expressed their delight in learning so much history and hidden secrets from Antonia, despite being a loyal visitor of the Palace and Estate.
Danielle Simpson, Sales Director at Blenheim Estate Homes, comments, “It is a privilege to be able to celebrate the history of Blenheim, whilst also creating a new legacy with the homes and community at Park View. We were excited to bring the residents together for this event and as the feedback has been fantastic from those who attended, we plan to arrange more events like this in the future.”
The general consensus of the event was summed up perfectly in a quote by one of the more recent Park View Residents, “We learned so much from Antonia and about the history that we have right on our doorstep. We can’t wait to come to the next event!”
